We will spend three very intensive days working on scenes from the crime/ thriller world (movies, TV-series, plays). We will address why people kill, why people steal, why people cheat, abuse and hurt other people etc. We will work on methods of how to experience real fear, how to feel the effect of drugs, how to cope with facing death, dying, people we care about dying and how to feel physical pain and afflict pain on others – all this measured up with falling in love, experiencing close friendship and family ties – everything that makes us human.
With the foundation in the learnings of Stanislavskij, the heart in the Chubbuck Technique and strong influences from acting techniques such as the Meisner Technique and Method Acting, we will create a modern and cutting edge acting for the 2020s.
The core of the workshop is the establishment of a character work on a deep emotional level. Your work will be both analytical, emotional, physical as well as intuitive – using your whole capacity as an actor and human being
We will analyze the forces that are at work throughout the whole story and the scene. We will work on it from the character’s point of view and find your personal connection. After that we will go on to substitution and inner objects. In the evening you will rehearse with your scene partner incorporating what we have worked on during the day.
We will adress how your character drives the scenes and relates to other characters. We will work on what triggers you to start the scene, how you open up to include others into your world, the importance of time and space in the scene and how you use your body, hands and things around you to win your objective. You will rehearse again with your scene partner in the evening.
On the last day we will explore how your character wins the scene. This day we will focus on how to connect and how to listen to yourself and to others. We will also do exercises on fear, death and dying, drugs, being in love etc. Finally we will address the getting out of the head and allowing now to happen which is so important for creating a living, breathing human being.
Working language is English.
Two weeks before the workshop you will receive a scene partner and at least a scene from a movie, tv-series or play.
16-18 April, 10:00-17.00 all days. Rehearsal and prep work for the following day on the evenings of the first two days.
